Superstitious Ramblings…

I was in the grocery store the other day, talking to my favorite cashier… we tend to talk a lot.  She was telling me that her husband finally got a shot at a job that he’s been going after for a while and the first thing I said was “I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you”.  That started me thinking about the origins of all those common sayings, mostly superstitious, that we all incorporate into our daily lives.  I don’t really consider myself to be a superstitious person but I certainly don’t hesitate to use a superstitious saying when it fits the situation.  I used to have a lucky necklace, but when my son was a baby every time I picked him up he went for it, so it went right back to the jewelry box… maybe I should pull that back out of there —  I would never want to turn down any extra good luck!

So that conversation at the store was the inspiration for this blog.  I’ve always loved the old legends, myths and stories from around the world and it’s just amazing to me how many of them stem from a superstition.  I’m going to be adding the ones that were fascinating to me and I hope you’ll enjoy them too.  Feel free to comment and let me know if there’s a superstition or two that you’d be interested in learning about, I’ll do my best to find it and bring it to light.
